Selling Out America?

Skipper America still makes some damn fine military hardware! Actually an American friend once asked me “what does Britain manufacture?” and to be honest I was at a loss to think of just what we do make. The situation is a lot better in the US, just think about software, industrial plant, tools, electronics etc. etc. Yes a lot of cheap crap is made overseas but quality kit is still made in America.
On a related note it seems there could be trouble brewing on a miltary purchase the Britain planned to make from the US. The last Labour government scrapped our proper aircraft carriers in the early 70’s To ensure they could not be used they even removed the steam catapults. Labour has always resented military spending as it eats into all the welfare they want to redistribute to the deadbeats. After they scrapped the carriers we had no ships that could carry fixed wing aircraft but the RAF promised the goovernment they could bomb anyone so they thought it didn’t matter. At the end of the 70’s three new cruisers became available (they are not proper aircraft carriers) which carried the Sea Harrier. Fortunately it was a good aircraft but realistically it is only a short range fighter and more suited to close support. Still it was all we had thanks to Labour when the Falklands was invaded by the feckless gauchos (Argentina)
Now Labour has to stump up the cash to build two proper carriers as the old ones are worn out, but they keep putting it off and it seems that to my disgust they will share the contract with Fwance. The carriers are supposed to take the new Joint Strike Fighter which the US is developing. However the Americans may not supply Britain now because Labour has signed us up to some pact to share technology with the EUrowankers. America it seems is unhappy with the frogs getting hold of state of the art technology. And who can blame them? Britain now faced with this situation is talking about buying Fwench aircraft??? WTF Their military hardware is crap. Have you seen the poxy assault rifles they issue? Junk. Mirage fighters? Pah even the Ruskies make better jets. Such is the fetish of Labour for Europe and the misguided anti American sentiment that most Labour MPs have. Think of Ken Livingstone and times 100 and that’s most Labour MPs
