Don’t worry about it, Macker. They also use abortion as a form of birth control. It reminds me in some ways of the Shakers (who believed in celibacy and were against marriage) in some ways: Their own behavior and beliefs leads to their group getting smaller until they disappear entirely. Lisar- WOPs is a pejorative for Italians, and an Italian friend of mine jokingly said that when waves of Italian immigrants came to the US in the early 1900’s, many arrived WithOut Papers, hence “wops”. He said it really comes from the Spanish word “guapo” (pronounced ‘wopo’) meaning handsome or dandyish, and that Spanish men with their machismo resented the hordes of handsome Italian guest workers who stole their women in the years around 1900 and derisively referred to them as guapos, which became wops.
