SCOTUS: TSA is above the law?

* deliberate usage of the word “germane”; it looks like good old Billy Wigglestick (William shakes spear) could see the future:
Hamlet Act V, Scene ii: “The phrase would bee more Germaine to the matter: If we could carry Cannon by our sides,”
this part of the scene really is a pun about a bet made about a duel, but by scene’s and duel’s end everyone is dead.

  1. Ah yes, they sc*w up - and somehow John Q. (Armed) Public is the one who ends up in jail. He should have gone on to his destination and then raised holy hell at the destination airport. That is how I ended up with 2 - $250. vouchers after they insisted that I take a diverted flight (from Houston Hobby to Waco rather than to Killeen) because I was a single flyer. Alas - not only could I have stayed on my overbooked flight (3 seats ended up empty) after their little hissy fit over a team of soldiers who were traveling with weapons and refused to be separated from their weapons but somehow my baggage ended up on NEITHER plane. . . Plus the taxi hired to drive us unfortunates from Waco (1.5 hours at 2AM) - broke down. I had to be home - my active duty son was watching the younger spawn and needed to be at PT in the early, early AM - needless to say - when I got to Killeen and there was no luggage - I went ballistic the next AM.

Airlines are not the way to travel - tragically never have been all the who-haw they are made out to be - traveled across country (1978) they would not seat my 3 year old with me - so I let the damn ‘hostesses’ tend to him the whole trip - take 30 seconds and be sane and civil.

And in 1962 traveling to MN for heart surgery - AMERICAN Airlines lost my ‘family’ (stuffed animals) My dad stopped at the gate & begged to go back or have someone bring them - alas Loverboy, Mr Moo Cow, Rocky Raccoon and Mr Big Mouth disappeared into some airline cleaners bag to make his kids happy. And I went into major surgery with a broken heart.

My s-i-l and hubby ran afoul of the TSA during their annual Christmas trek to his parents in FLA - seems they were carrying a bottle of water for their 2 year old - and GOD knows that is Illegal and Dangerous - they took Dad into a private room and went ballistic on him. Meanwhile a 2 year old is crying that she may never see her Daddy again. Great way to start a Christmas vacay.

And now that the gov goons are part and parcel of the event - I’m amazed that anyone travels by air anymore.

Personally, I don’t. I refuse. I was jailed for possession of marijuana back in the day, more decades ago than I care to think about, and the similarity to being “processed through intake” was too similar for my taste.

Just as well that I refuse, too. They probably wouldn’t appreciate me showing up for my flight in an orange jumpsuit with no pockets and a big “P” on the back. In terms of how you are treated by TSA, there is little difference between showing up at an airport with a ticket and robbing a liquor store. I’m sure as hell not going to pay to get treated like that.

  3. The inequity of it is what blows me away (not to mention people like my s-i-l who put up with it regularly) - Those disabled with a prosthetic cannot go through their handy-dandy scanners - hence they automatically get a uber pat down, son was made to take off his prosthetic and it and his wheelchair were swabbed down. [Aside, my son is a burn survivor - it is obvious to the casual observer something terrible happened to him - he is not someone who just lost a leg and otherwise looks like John Q Public], we know that those of a certain (faux) religious persuasion get special treatment and handling and finally as you said - It is way too much like guilty until proven innocent - which is a direct violation of the 5th Amendment.

And the sheeple put up with it.
