Locally saw a news story on a ‘new’ concept sort of a social club for 20 somethings via bowling. $90 will get you the games, ball & shoe rental and drinks and snacks.
At least they are teaching a new (and incredible lazy) generation about a physical and social activity.
Our local alley does the same thing. After decades of having a sleazebag negative image, the bowling world has re-invented itself as a family oriented, clean fun entertainment center thing. All kinds of programs, from corporate events to birthday parties to Superbowl and New Year’s Eve parties. Thirsty Thursdays with cheap beer, glow bowling, Quatermania with 25¢ games, Pay One Price nights, etc. Plus all the entertainment screens and fun graphics. Many also have upmarket bars and restaurants attached, some bring in local bands or DJs on the weekends. They’re surviving.
