  3. The strange thing is, if you look at a map of where the oil rigs are, you will see that a GREAT number of them are directly in the path of Rita.  The quicker she turns North, the worst the damage.
I guess I just don’t understand the market. ( Back to day job )

  4. FOC: Perhaps I can be of some assistance.  cool smile  Not in predicting the market.

Prices (of commodities, stocks, bonds) move 1. in the direction of the 2. change in 3. expectations

This is why a company loses a billion dollars and the price goes UP.  They were expected to lose $2 Billion.  Remember, it’s the DIRECTION of the CHANGE of the expectations—for the future.  Obviously, changes are seldom exactly proportionate and expectations are frequently wrong. Markets are driven by 1. fear & 2. greed.  Emotions.

Stop looking for the irony or joke in this post—there isn’t any.

  5. The only thing that keeps it from being ironic is that it’s true.

  6. OCM: Just like your own reference to your posting on another subject, RATIONAL !

SK: You referring to my Market wisdom or “scum”?

  7. I’m referring to your market wisdom, Oink.

“Scum”, like many other things, is in the eye of the beholder.

  9. Holey poke the dawg. I always look at the quotations at the top of the page, as many do I’m sure. Some I can identify with more than others. I think I hit the jackpot on this latest page load:

“There ought to be one day-- just one-- when there is open season on senators. - Will Rogers”

I have always admired Will. He always talked sense.

    I await hunting season.

    I have a list. grin

It’s bipartisan and gender neutral. uzi dickhead soapbox  dickhead machinegun
