RFRA: When Bad Law Gets Worse

Was that sufficiently “giving them both barrels”? Because I could write this over again, and be really snotty and stuff. And add pictures and more links.

OTOH, I could have this whole thing inside out and bass ackwards. In which case, rip it up in the comments. Have at me! But I don’t think I’m wrong here. Bad law and Political Correctness will be the death of this nation.

  1. As long as they are bitching about shit like this Hillary will get a Pause and a pass for awhile. Which is ALL this crap is, a diversion.

  2. Great, well done work Drew. This is a better analysis than I can find in a lot of classrooms.

    Also:

RFRA laws are wrong. Period. They all need to be thrown out. Federal and State. No religion gets you an out from any other law. Ever. Period. And every business ought to have the right to refuse service whenever they want. The time of “cards” needs to end.

You don’t think so? Great. I’m starting up the NJ Highway Church of Azteca. It is my new combination faith that
    A) It is my religious duty to raid my neighbors, steal their children, sell them to the priests and cut their hearts out on the altar as a sacrifice to appease my god CoaxialCoatiMundi; and
    B) It is my religious right to commute on the highways at 120mph regardless of weather or traffic load (my religion is growing; I already have half the state believing in Tenet B) as a means of being close to my god. And I mean close; if I don’t make it past that school bus full of screaming children, I’ll be face to face with my god just like that!
PS - I’m moving in right next door to you. Laws against kidnapping, slavery, murder, speeding, and reckless driving don’t apply to me. Because Religion. You aren’t allowed to defend yourself, and I can sue your pants off if you even look at me in an “uncomfortable” way.

God in Heaven, I haven’t laughed like that in a loooong time. It ought to be stickied somewhere as a wonderful example of why these kinds of excuses are wrong.

  3. Yes the RFRA laws are wrong - it’s all in the 1st Amendment - the Federal Government can not write laws to prohibit the ‘free expression of religion’.

Thus the sneaky move to encourage and enable the states to do the laws - except those laws - once again violate the 1st Amendment. Remember it use to be that the Constitution trumped all.

You should read what the ACLU and Ted (the ‘sainted’ Liberal Lion, pbuh) Kennedy said about (I think it was Glenn Beck who read the quotes yesterday) RFRA which of course Schumer wrote and Clinton signed. Where is the hate/boycott/bigotry heaped upon them? Hypocrite the name is Democrat.

Yet the RFRA did nothing to protect the CO bakery from being forced out of business by the Gay Mafia. Or the Hobby Lobby ACA debacle.

Nor the fact that there is a RFRA - and 20 states passed a similar law prior to 2014. Or that when the IL RFRA was passed a Senator by the name of Barack Obama voted YEAH.

All those points are moot today.

Much like that the lawyers for Roe (who, she herself admitted that she lied to the lawyers) lied about her case that went to the Supremes. And got America abortion uber alles.

Much like the ACA is just one huge lie and sold on lies.

Much like the lie that the Immigration ‘system’ is broken - and no one catches that it is the politicos who don’t ENFORCE existing laws and/or wrote terrible laws that caused the problems and now are writing even more terrible laws - to fix the problems that they helped create. Isn’t one of the definitions of insanity - doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results?

I think that the RFRA was passed as cover for muslims in America - and it came to bite them (the Left/Dems/Progressives) in the butt and now they have to attack the very thing/issue that they created. See my previous statement for the sheer special form of crazy that is currently going on in America - and those are the people who are in control of our Nation.

    God help us all.

  4. In my opinion, religious institutions are at best no different than political institutions, which btw is how the Gay Mafia is acting. They exist to support a strict set of rules that Rarely have much basis in reality. And worst of all they all but Demand conformity for conformity sake, not for the support of the general well being of all. That the Dems are flailing on what they have sown is rather funny, and how the media are trying to place blame on the “other” party is hilarious.
    Fuck em All.
