  1. Allan,
You certainly have a flair for finding exactly the right historical quote for exactly the right circumstance.
I commend you, Mr. Secretary.  And I commend those people for their courage.  I just hope those people get the freedom they’re looking for.

  2. The greatest words in the English (American version) language.  ”We hold these truths to be self-evident” In other words:  If you disagree MotherF***er, tell us what you base your government on!

The other greatest American English words are from Huckleberry Finn : ”Allright, then, I’ll go to hell.”

If you care, the #1 greatest words in the entire English language are “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth .. and God said let there be light, and there was light.”

#2 is from “Finnegan’s Wake” “Yes is said yes I will yes”

  3. There are two simple words in the English language that convey, without a doubt, the most beautiful sentiment ever spoken by mere mortals.

Yes, they are but two simple, everyday words.  Usually spoken at weddings, their very utterance can make grown men weep with joy and fill them with a sense of renewal for all of humanity:

    “Open bar.”

  4. WRONG Riggs, wrong! Where, then, would you put, “Let’s Fuck”? Second?

  5. "Let’s fuck” was only written 300 years ago?  That kitty’s been shittin’ in your bong again.

Remember the Europeans called Reagan a dreamer when he told the bad guys to tear down this wall?  Destroy the Soviet Union and unite Germany?  RIDICULOUS !  Read it here: http://service.spiegel.de/cache/international/0,1518,343378,00.html

  6. Duh .. gee Tennessee!” , says liberal Chumley, “ If Ronnie and ‘W’ are so stupid, how come they kept kicking our ass?” (and being right) ”let’s go ask Mr. Whoopee...”

  7. Well now Allan, I wonder if this story indicates something that may become a new trend.

Right now there are the Taliban surrendering in droves after the successful DEMOCRATIC election in Afghanistan because they’ve realized ‘this thing’ isn’t going away.

There was a successful DEMOCRATIC election in Iraq. (Sure there are, and will be, some “speed bumps” - but hey, the American Revolution didn’t happen overnight either - did it?)

Now these people in Lebanon, where Beirut was once a resort town, are getting fed-up with their oppressors all by themselves, and (horrors!) demonstrating in the streets!!!

Could it be possible that people in the middle east are looking around at what the “Great Satan” did, and starting to wonder?

Or maybe it’s just a coincidence.

And then - along comes CANADA last night announcing that, at the urging of the US, we’re going to send police type people over to Iraq to help their police forces - AND that “somehow”, the US managed to trick us into accepting missile defence systems on our soil. Wow. Of course, you must understand that we have to save what’s left of our ‘face’, so that it doesn’t appear that we are condoning what GWB has done to help free-up the middle east. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if the other shoe drops. (silly little giggle)
