  1. To think that 30 years later the Ford Pinto would have some value in it…
    doesn’t say much....

  2. Filled up my Cadi this week at $2.54 per gallon - went for the middle grade rather than the highest - so far so good...........cost me $29.04 for 11.391 gallons...........thank God I don’t drive very many miles per month..............Hate to think what it will cost me when I go on vacation next week - will be driving all over New England..............

  3. I expect you’ll be going through New York, Dottie. I’d recommend filling up in Pennsylvania before you hit NY. It’ll save you about 0.20/gallon. It’s a habit I have had since 1974 and it’s always held true. If you’re going on the Thruway (I-90), gas will be much more expensive in the service plazas than in the nearby towns, so if you get off to spend the night somewhere, gas up before getting back on the Thruway.

Then there’s the “phenomenon of the coast”. Somewhere there’s a line past which Hotel/Motel rates double. I’ve never been able to locate this line, but I know it’s there. I made it to be within 150-200 miles of the east coast.

I don’t know if you already know this, but rather than using gas stations for the call of nature, find a brand name hotel/motel with a bar/restaurant. Their restrooms are usually cleaner than the run of the mill gas station.

Have a good trip and bring back lots of pics.
