  1. I took a look at the first page.  Are those guys using English?  I think some of them like us and some don’t, but I’m not sure.

Any chance I’m just looking in the wrong place?  I followed several different links and found little difference.

Truth Laid Bare gives us a basic ranking, but I’d be curious to know more.

  2. Blogtech seems to be a language all its own. We’ve got Bouncing and Loyalty and Uniqueness and a host of other terms, Tag Storms and Lists, Rankings, Ratings, Friends, Lovers, Favorites, et al. Then things start getting technical. Don’t fret it.

TLLB (The Truth Laid Bear, because EVERYTHING has to be an acronym!) lists us as a Large Mammal in the ecosystem. All that really means is that we get a bit more than 1000 visitors a day. Aah, but how many are actual people, how many are spiders and webbots, how many are feeders (RSS etc)?

TLLB also shows that I’m not doing too well. Our visitor rate is falling off; we’re down 10% since I took over. That’s depressing, as I’m trying the best I can.

  3. I’m worried about it too.  I like being able to put my ideas out in public, but if no one reads them, there’s not much point.  I’ve thought about setting up my own blog, but it’s a bit more than I want to deal with.  Here, I can be part of a team of people discussing the various topics from differing points of view.

There are only 4 differences that I can think of between when between when the Skipper was alive and now.

    1) The Skipper’s posts had a sense of lightness that all the odd jokes we’ve got don’t duplicate.

    2) The comments, most especially mine, were a lot shorter.

    3) We seem to be dealing a lot more with the Islamofascists to the point that there isn’t much more to say.  There’s a limit to how many times you can point out that they are 7th Century troglodytes who want to rule the world.  It seems in general, that we had a wider range of topics before, but I’m not sure that’s accurate.  I don’t think the lack of weekend eye candy has anything to do with it.

    4) When I go to make my comments, the original article isn’t there anymore.  It used to be handy if I wanted a quick reference to make me think more carefully.

  4. Don’t forget, the guy over at the smallest minority has data that shows only 16 repeat visitors, even though *more than 16 of us* told him “I’m one!”

So… checking traffic data? Okay, I’ll pass the salt.

  5. Since you put it that way…
Ok, I’m the anonymous guy from Peru, although I’m now living in Spain.
Yes, I’m now a LEGAL immigrant. I’ve been a lurker here for a couple of years, but have only posted two or three times. One of them was a discussion about catfishes.

The best post was that Youtube video about two vets at Veteran’s Day. And yes, I miss the Skipper a lot.
