  1. Never heard of it. Didn’t influence my vote, support, or lack thereof.

Republicans lost because they acted like Democrats. Period.

Don’t recall the study, never heard of it until you posted about it.

Don’t really care about Iraqi deaths. All I care about is winning. Win in Iraq, win in Afghanistan, down the line we may have to win in Iran and in Pakistan.

Especially Pakistan since they do have nukes.

The only war deaths I care about is our war deaths. Starting with 9/11.

  2. If you go to the original posting of the Lancet study - which may no longer be available - the pie charts and graphs within the study, do not support the written conclusion.

It is said that the methodology was to question 45 people in an area and then extrapolate the numbers upward for the entire population of that area - problem is, say for example those 45 people are related - you’ve extrapolated up on the very same body(ies) - which leads to an inacurate conclusion. The other problem stems from where did/do you question the 45 people from - questioning in Sadr slums of Baghdad will give you a whole different ‘body count’ perspective than questioning in a different area of Baghdad. Which comes to our final problem with the ‘body count’ - they elevated Baghdad to it’s own ‘region’ of Iraq rather than a city within a region. Therefore on the ‘violent regions’ of Iraq chart - there appeared to be 5 (out of 18 provinces) rather than the actual 4 violent provinces out of 18 - another intentional skewing of the results.

And this was back in 2006. On the one chart - even they listed as only 1% of the deaths in Iraq as due to the US Invasion - my math says that is 6,549 deaths - vastly, vastly different number - which probably means the other 38,451 deaths were due to sectarian violence, normal criminal violence, natural deaths, probably a bit by the inability of the Iraq healthcare system to function properly during a war and oh yes, foreign terrorists using torture and other methods to incite violence in Iraq.

It saddens me that the Lancet has fallen down to this level - they used to be sound medical studies - we are doomed if We The People continue to let skewed, bad ‘scienc’ and ‘medicine’ distort and mislead us. All for a political agenda.

No big surprise that this 1) was funded/done by George Soros lackies and 2) that it came out just before the mid-term election.

Sad that no one really gave a damn to fight it. Where are the people of backbone, truth and courage on the right?

Oh yeah fighting it out in Afghanistan and Iraq. Such a shame.

  3. The last ‘fair use’ paragraph is most telling:

“Over the past several months, National Journal has examined the 2006 Lancet article, and another [PDF] that some of the same authors published in 2004; probed the problems of estimating wartime mortality rates; and interviewed the authors and their critics. NJ has identified potential problems with the research that fall under three broad headings: 1) possible flaws in the design and execution of the study; 2) a lack of transparency in the data, which has raised suspicions of fraud; and 3) political preferences held by the authors and the funders, which include George Soros’s Open Society Institute.”

Of course, this ‘data bomb’ will go down the memory hole since it doesn’t fit the booooshitler-darthcheney-bloodyoil-christianistainvader narrative the MSM is so fond of.

Perhaps Lancet could redeem itself by projecting when soros, et al will run out of money via his furious political m@sturb@tion?
