  1. What was being said in the mid-1950’s when storms like Edna and Hazel were on the loose?

Was it all Ike’s fault?  Or did they blame McCarthy instead?

    LOL

  3. You know damn well the el cubos will contribute to “global warming” just by saying the word, oh and they’ll blame President Bush on it too!

  8. That little insert at the bottom right of the map that predicts the probable course of Rita...with all due gratitude to the Science of Meteorology for warning us...it’s no better than common sense. “The hurricane will likely keep going in the same direction—unless it doesn’t.  We’re pretty sure it won’t back up and head south.  It’s 100% certain that the sum’bitch will do what it damn well pleases.”

  9. U2: you’re using the word try in the sense of test ?

    No, thanks.  ohh

  10. OCM - wasn’t that the strangest scene - the passengers on that flight watched the whole scene via the planes TV system - yikes!!!!

My brother works for ExxonMobil in Baytown (I think), Texas - do I dare announce that to the world with the current gas prices?????  shut eye ............I sure hope they’ve battened down the hatches & gotten the hell out of there.  He & his family live in Humble, northeast of Houston - hope they will be safe!!

While in New England I watched the course of Ophelia - thank goodness she stalled off the coast of N.C. until I flew out of Boston........ angel

  11. Global Warming is a)real and b)NOT OUR FAULT!!!!!

Mars orbiter spots unexpected dramatic changes on planet’s surface
    1 hour, 28 minutes ago
PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - The Martian surface has undergone dramatic changes in the last few years with the appearance of new gullies and fresh boulder tracks, new images released Tuesday show.
The photos, taken by the orbiting Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft, suggest the planet is perhaps more active than previously thought.
The spacecraft, in its ninth year in orbit, spotted two fresh gullies on a Martian sand dune that were not present in 2002. Scientists think the gullies might have formed when frozen carbon dioxide trapped by windblown sand vaporized, releasing gas that allowed the sand to flow freely.
The planet may be undergoing a climate change, indicated by images that show a shrinking of carbon dioxide deposits near the south pole. For the last three Martian summers, the deposits have shrunk from the previous year.
The Mars Global Surveyor was launched in 1996 and entered orbit a year later. The project is managed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

...could it be that the polar ice caps ON MARS ARE MELTING!!!!!?????? Wouldn’t that be because of Martian Global Warming??!

If Mars has global warming might not that be because the sun is putting out more radiation???

Surely not!!! This must really mean…

THAT GEORGE BUSH HAS BEEN DRIVING AROUND ON MARS WITH AN SUV!!!!!!!

Bad Bush!! Bad, Bad, Evil Bush. First he won’t sign the Kyoto treaty for earth and then he goes and causes global warming on Mars!!!!

Next thing you know he’ll be invading the moon without UN approval!!!

NASA details plan for craft that will fly to the moon
By Traci Watson, USA TODAY Tue Sep 20, 7:56 AM ET
The United States plans to send astronauts back to the moon as soon as 2018 on a mission that would be cheaper and more ambitious than man’s first trip to the lunar surface nearly 40 years ago, NASA Administrator Michael Griffin said Monday.

  12. There’s a real bad situation developing in Houston that’s only just starting to come out.

Instead of folks ending up stuck in shelters without food and water or escape (like Katrina), folks are getting stuck in their cars on the road. I just listened to a lady on the Glenn Beck show who had been stuck in her car for 18 hours. AND SHE WAS STILL INSIDE THE HOUSTON CITY LIMITS!!!!

She said that the outside temperature was at 100ºF and people were trying to run the a/c’s and the roads were full of tens of thousands of cars and a lot of people were just running out of gas.

There is no more gas to be found in Houston, using the a/c burns it up faster but it is so hot in their cars they can’t stand it. She said a lot of folks are just staying in their houses because they would rather die at home than get caught in their cars on the road. She wished she had stayed at her home.

    How’s the pucker factor now?

  13. My 26 y/o daughter had a trip to Austin, Tex-ass, planned for the weekend.  In the long history of bad ideas, this would be among the worst.  Even she is not that crazy.  red face But I phoned her anyway.

  14. Actually Nasa is about to get blasted, too. The Johnson Space Center and a bunch of other assembly plants and offices are all down in that low-lying area east of the city that is likely to get drowned when Rita comes ashore.
