The difference between conservatives and the left, is that we in general hold our people to higher stands. I don’t care that the left acts like scumbags, we shouldn’t.
We voted out the last Republican congress, because they were acting like Democrats. We shouldn’t act like the left and Ann should apologize. And if she isn’t going to say something funny or witty, then she needs to learn to keep her mouth shut.

I can see in the future that when Hil or Obam have a firm hand on power,
there will be a movement to FREE TREY PARKER as there was similar political
prisoners in the past. They will convict him of calling things “gay” and
not meaning it in a good way. They will go after all of our guys, like Ann.

Grumpy, to me Ann was pointing her barb more at pc police (and having to speak on eggshells)than at Edwards being gay. And I am sick and tired of people who lie through their teeth, sell out America every time they vote, call the current President and people within his Administration liars, hitler, nazis, facists, house niggers and the like - and are not called to apologize nor even do it when they are. Besides Ann is not a candidate - she is a writer/pundit/columnist/whatever - lest I go into what the non-politicians from the left have called the President?
And besides two or three sharp or (for you Grumpy) tacky comments in what?, 4 or 5 books, a weekly column, and the hundreds of speeches she gives - her average is miniscule compared to the average dem.

Leonard Jones, he is everything you claim and more. His biggest award was won with the unbelievable ‘channeling’ of the cp baby trash but it is just as much the juries fault in these idiotic awards as it the judges and lawyers - however I fault whoever first lets these even go to trial.
Personal responsibility is not present in this country to any degree thanks to lawyers like Edwards. And no one talks much at all of the damage lawyer Edwards did to the medical profession in SC with his ‘wonderful’ awards which he then socked away into a ‘foundation’ meaning he gets to invest it while paying almost no taxes on it. . .
Why she chose to go with ‘faggot’ for this person is beyond me. And I do see the danger of conservatives going into the gutter with the dems/left. But as I said, she is not a candidate - why is the outrage so misplaced? Do you see or hear any media or RNC calling for the ‘candidates’ to distance themselves from that Arkin ‘anti-military’ moron? See, if you had to pause for more than a nanosecond, the jibe had its bad effect. If you have to look it up, her statement had a very destructive effect.

Faggot was a poor choice of words, not because of offending PC sensibilities, but because of the shift of the word’s connotation over the last thirty years. Once upon a time, that pejorative called up visions of the stereotypical vain, limp-wristed, lisping, outrageously dressed, effeminate flaming homosexual. Many homosexuals do not fit the type, and Edwards, as far as we know, is not homosexual.
However, he is an effeminate, vain, narcissistic, thieving, double talking, shallow, hypocritical, lying, condescending, pandering, ignorant, nancy boy trial lawyer who talks the talk but doesn’t walk the walk. After the way Cheney chewed him up and spit him out in the vice presidential debates, losing his Senate seat, and the hilarious but sickening hair primping video, I don’t know how he can show his face in any political contest, except that he is blindly vain.
Coulter had a huge target deserving of contempt, but she chose the wrong word to diss him. And IMHO, as a private citizen speaking her mind, she doesn’t owe anyone an apology to anyone, unless she herself thinks she does.

She needs gird her loins, be the bigger pundit, and apologize because it is the decent thing to do in a civil society.

So now America is going down the road of ‘banning’ words - which is exactly what the point of Ann’s comment was. I can not believe that conservatives are buying into that and also into the utter fantasy that if Ann hadn’t said faggot that the media/left would not have centered on it and reported ‘fairly’ the CPAC? In what fantasy land are those conservatives living? Did it degrade and demean the CPAC, only if you do believe in the danger of using a ‘word’.
Where does it stop? And who gets to decide? What is the criteria, the basis, the ‘line’. Who draws it and what are their credentials? And why them?
Visit the Public Library on Banned Book Week (Sept 23 - 30th) and then get out a historical text (or several) on times in History when books were banned. It was not a free time, it was not a progressive time, it expanded no elightenment. It distorted and demeaned Truth, Honesty and Education.
You don’t like Ann’s ‘wit’ or ‘word usage’ - don’t buy her books, turn off a show when she appears, don’t read her commentaries. This is a free country, still. Sorry to weigh in so late folks - it’s been very busy at work.
The most interesting stuff here really is the debate following her remarks. OK, “faggot” is a rough and crude word in this context. Some are offended just by the crudeness of the term with or without the social dimension. That’s a personal decision, we’re all big boys and girls.
The liberals going back to the Free Speech Movement (anybody remember that?) in Berkley 40 years ago fought tooth and nail for the right to use offensive language in public. Seems the circle has turned. Liberals are now reactionary conservatives and conservatives are now liberal.
I’m sure Ann can take care of herself. Can you imagine being the “liberal” who decides to take her on in a debate? Wooo Hooo! I’d buy a ticket to that one! I think the best possible match up there would be Ann vs. Hillary. Anyone want to bet that Hillary would rather eat a live squid?
