There are two types of driver in the UK nowadays. Those who have speed camera detectors and those who don’t. Only about 25% of those stretches of road marked with warning signs about cameras actually have active, working cameras.
The drivers with the detectors thus know when to drive fast. The drivers without detectors try to stay under the limit, but get p1ssed off by the “haves” weaving in and out.
This non-level playing field leads to bad driving which is much more dangerous than the ostensible speeding.
Funnily enough, the first speed camera that had been “necklaced” (destroyed using an old tyre filled with petrol) was in Holland, not the UK.
