1. I work with this kind of stuff all the time and contribute to it ocassionally, but only on a local basis. Except when I work with a federal agency (which I usually dread - these guys are frustrating as hell to work with). One of the systems you mentioned caught my eye - the Promis/Gavel system. I am the sys admin guy for the prosecution s/w that replaced our Promis application. If indeed you are referring to PROMIS (PRosecutors Management Information System) then it has quite a storied past. Not particularly NJ’s PROMIS but the company, Inslaw, that produced PROMIS. It is quite a story in itself and how government corruption, murder and international intrigue can follow a product around like an unwanted relative.

   There are still some caveats associated with PROMIS unless they have done some updating, particularly if they have finally added a data dictionary to it and gotten away from the old character based interface.

3. I take such warm comfort in the thought that no sparrow shall fall, save that Big Brother knows all about it.  Of course there is the possibility that the records could be inaccurate in some way, but then Big Brother’s gotta do what Big Brother’s gotta do.

   Do like I did - leave that piece of shit manure pile called New Jerky, shake the dust from your shoes, (If you want to do like I did exactly, stop on the Turnpike Bridge going into Penssylvania, get OUT OF THE CAR and give the third finger salute to trenton) and NEVER GO BACK. Our biggest problem in Pennsy is Jersyites who are moving over here and VOTING like they were back in the shitheap. I keep asking them HOW do you think it got to BE a shitheap.

   After 9 years I am still not paying what I paid in taxes in NJ, have a bigger property, my kids were educated better, I can (and recently did) buy a handgun just by walking into a store, got my permit to carry on my LUNCH HOUR (No kidding) and can play with my pellet guns in my backyard!!  Screw NJ - let all the good folk leave and let Corzine and the maggots live off the shit.
