OCM: No backlog on our part here. We thought you’d gone away to that Great Hairball In The Sky. Glad you woke up! You missed all the fun over your avatar yesterday.
Looks like another knife in the back for the troops. Oh, look. His name is right there with the others.
I’m an old swab jockey, OCM. I can find and chase a submarine, and have, but I’m not up on ground operations. I’d say that the guys on the ground are doing what is required to beat these assholes. They’re running them to ground where they can find them, they are building a relationship with the people and it’s paying off with information “don’t go down there, there’s a bomb waiting” or “that guy has a bomb factory in his garage”, that sort of thing. The raids that Senator LongFace is calling “terrorism” are a part of the fight.
I’ve been getting my email notifications okay. Maybe your ISP email was down. It happens to ‘em all from time to time.
I’ve spent countless hours looking for that return ping, OCM. Can’t usually tell if it’s friend or foe or pinnacle. Gotta stick with it until you can figure it out.
As for where: The best you can usually do is knowing where you think it is. There’s lots of ways for a sub to evade surface ships. They know where the thermocline is and damn sure know how to use it. It’s a good day when you can get a few good pings off of one before it slips into or below the thermal layer. That’s what VDS is good for.
In any case, it ain’t like in the movies.
I’m sure that the best minds in the Army and Marines are working feverishly on this. They don’t like it any more than we do. As I said, they have to go after them at the root and keep them from planting the damn things. If you can shut down the makers there won’t be any more bombs. Right?
That’s where intelligence and good relationships with the people come in. I have read more than one account of how someone will tip off soldiers on patrol to bombs. One case that sticks in my mind was a little girl who had gotten a doll from the soldiers. She stood in the road and wouldn’t move out of the way one day when a patrol came through. They stopped and she pointed out a bomb waiting for them. I’ll look for a link to that story, it’s been a couple of months. The guy who wrote it was on the patrol.
No front line to push forward, no enemy capital to take, fighting in many areas. The way you win this sort of war is harder than a conventional war. Kill the bad guys, ensure political power is spread among groups, offer a better way of life, undermine the support of the bad guys among the people…
Mao had it down decades ago, at least in theory.
Oh well, what should we expect from the Party of Treason?
No plan survives first contact with the enemy. We attempted to do the war on-the-cheap to avoid the kind of bullshit we’re getting now from the Party of Traitors.
According to the planning guidelines we used at the Command and General Staff College, our losses in both personnel and equipment are less than microscopic. Our casualities could’ve been in the ten’s of thousands during the initial invasion. Only the expertise of our troops allowed the incrediable victory we achieved.
The Donks are attempting to return to their glory days of Vietnam. Remember, Vietnam fell to an external invasion by five North Vietnamese tank divisions after the Party of Treason voted to end all military support (financial and equipment). The Presidential Palace in Saigon fell to a Soviet-built T-55 tank, not some peasant clad in black pajamas carrying an AK-47.
Whatever criticism may be leveled, I can only reply with this—What can be so wrong with replacing a murdering Fascist dictator and forcing him and his evil regime to answer for their crimes against humanity?
”...by their actions you shall know them.”
Traitors are those who give aid and comfort to the enemy.
The National Democratic Party has focused upon GW Bush and will do anything, including destroying this country, to bring him down. The examples are too numerous and obvious. Their daily rants contribute to the deaths of our soldiers everyday. I see a 21st century repeat of the 1970’s.
