  1. I agree - insidious how big brother government is inching it’s way toward a oneglowballworld - and people are just letting it happen.

I have always railed against the ‘school tax’ for people who have ‘been there, done that’ (i.e. raised their kids and now in their golden years continue to pay a full tax load). It got worse when we were in KY, ‘owned’ our property (paying said tax) and then having to fill out the ‘government worker’ form - always wondered if they deducted a percentage from their government handout as we were paying school taxes. Since government does not ever seem to do the rational and common sense thing - I doubt it.

We are trying to find where we really want to live for the ‘golden’ years of our life - so researched (income tax, property tax, military pays/taxed, gun laws and sales tax) - and found something interesting.

Texas (where I swore I’d never live again) has a percent of income of 60+ yr old(I think) that is not subject to the school tax - rational and common sense approach to the issue. Also in Galveston county they have proven for decades that privatization of SS is not a fiscal disaster.

Question, if a home is ‘owned’ by a real estate company or a business - do they pay ‘school taxes’ too? Just wondering as a number of properties in my neighborhood are owned by local (not national) real estate companies and rented out. . .Just another scam as far as I am concerned.

  3. i can buy and own property anywhere,i can own 1000 acres in California, pay school & property taxes there,
yet i can only vote in my “residence"in Texas.
    Talk about taxation without representation!
Hell, maybe that’s the reason Halliburton is moving to the U.A.E.

  4. Just wait til’ they start to use Kelo to get rid of churches that oppose prolib policies. How ‘bout when they decide that private home ownership is bad for global warming? It’s coming.
