. It does not bode well for The One (tm) to have a member of the Obamamedia in a house organ who wasn’t gushing his emo out over the Imacualtion Address. Hmm, is buyers remorse raising it’s ugly head already?!? One can only hope.CNN analysts Jeffrey Toobin was also underwhelmed.
Next is this
- umm, is this moron implying that The One (tm) writes his speechs - how stupid is that? or that The One(tm) was so inspirational in his ‘autobiographies’ that was what propelled him to this position? Either way ole Walter boy is just as stupid and vapid as The One (tm) which is why the American Idol loser wanna-be got elected (that and ACORN paying our hardearned tax money to the unwashed masses to Vote Early/Vote Often). No invention is needed. This is a frightful thing.
Drew I am not well versed in US constutional affairs but would they not have to have the agreement of all the State legislatures to do this? I can’t see this happening. Though in Britain a socialist government passed the “Civil Contingencies Act?” With this bit of underhand chicanery the socialists can prevent the country from having a General Election, and thereby cling to power by claiming the national emergency makes a change of government not possible.
Actually LyndonB I do believe that Representative Serrano was banking on the kool-aid drinkers and bds suffers to shove this through - since it was an evil republican plan to stop the great, wonderful, little guy lovin DNC from running America the right way. Two points.
First, wardmama’s comments about the content of BHO’s speech and its condescension are right on. It is one of the identifying characteristics of the liberals aka Neo Fascists that because the People (as defined in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights), don’t know or understand enough to make decisions, the Neo Fascist leaders must tell the People how to think and what to do. BHO is the leader of the Neo Fascists. Call it Animal Farm or 1984 the difference is pretty small.
Second, the rest of the speech, the part offering progress and hope if we work together is just as interesting. The art of writing ad copy is to string together a series of truths with emotional appeal, while lying through your teeth.
Taken as a whole, that speech was so poorly done, that it takes little nasal acuity to smell the ripe tones of first class B.S. A man who cares little for either the truth or the People of the United States has just been installed in the Oval Office. A very large portion of the People do not understand what is going on adore Obams’s meaningless platitudes and don’t know when they are being blatantly lied to.
The Republic in general and free thinkers (aka Conservatives) in particular are in trouble.
One of the Reasons that the Surge was sucessful is that the Local Iraqis objected to the Indiscriminate Killing by the Jihadis and came to understand that their lives would be better if they allied themselves with American Troops, After all the Americans would eventually leave.
The taking prisoner of Jihadis and holding them was partly because we hoped to develop useful Intelligence that would help us Capture more Terrorists.
If the Policy of Holding Unlawful Combatants is discontinued will the Unintended Consequences be the Summary Execution of any and all persons Captured?
If I were in the Military and knew that the People I was in Combat against would be given the Full Rights of American Citizens I would not want to take many Prisoners.
If these things were to happen We could lose one of the few things that differentiate us from the Terrorists.
It would be Wise to carefully consider the end result of closing Gitmo and Releasing all the Unlawful Combatants.

Gitmo MUST be closed because it feels wrong to take people prisoner and then not give them full access to high powered lawyers for free, then press charges against them, then try them in front of an impartial jury selected from a pool of San Francisco CA and Olympia WA citizens. See? FEELS wrong. That’s what is important. That’s ALL that is important. Consequences? Phooey, that’s for other people to deal with, if they even exist, which I doubt. If these prisoners are held against their will that is the same as if they were arrested. If they were arrested then they have the RIGHT to a free lawyer, charges made against them, trial by jury, etc. Since this “war” on terrorism isn’t against any named country, it isn’t even a “war”, therefore it is a matter of justice and the justice system ... Clinton’s approach was the right one you see.
That they are irregular troops taken on the field of battle in absolute contravention of the Geneva Accords, and therefore can be summarily executed does not matter at all. They are in jail, therefore they must be treated at least as well as any other prison in America.

Bush should have called Gitmo a POW camp from the get-go. POWs don’t get trials. They get held until the war is over, then released.

Archie, I’m surprised you missed the intended sarcasm by my use of the term.
However, I do believe that we really should be very careful not to fall into the Dem/Left wing liberal BS trap with regard to what we say about people we oppose. Be it the new president or anyone else on the left. You’re right in that we should attack them on the facts. Sometimes though it’s hard to resist using terms of intended derision but I don’t think anyone would actually believe that any of us truly believe he’ll be president for life.
Term limits.
How do we return people we really like a lot to office? It isn’t a dumb question because frankly I could have used more of President Reagan. I’d have voted a third term for him.
Or is that unrealistic?There is a big difference from our side (right, Right, conservative, sane) than the bds suffers - I don’t hate Obama because he is left, Wrong, liberal, a liar, dispicable, from Chicago thug politics, muslim raised, communist influenced, racist church attending, won’t produce his raised seal birth certificate and most especially because he is half black - I don’t want him to be President of the US because of his beliefs, lies and policies.
