  1. One has to wonder exactly why so many in the singer category end up dying in plane crashes - is it simply because when they reach a certain point, taking a small private plane not only spells success to them - but also increases their risk of dying in a plane crash exponentially?

Just a thought this cold quiet morning.

As long as you don’t have to take one of those ‘local’ commuter flights - except for the TSA frisking, you should be ok.

I sat on the tarmac for over an hour - and then took off for the worst flight I’ve taken in my life. Flew over the Rockies at tree level height in a very small (6 seater) plane in the early 60s that wasn’t even close to the latest crappy flight I took down to Nashville this past April.

Have fun - as I said, last vacay here was 1997 - it sucks being po’.

  2. I remember reading about the Aaliyah incident when it happened. Apparently she plus her entourage and their equipment were waaay above the capability of that plane. The charter outfits they shopped insisted on using two planes (= more $$), but apparently they eventually founds someone who’d do it in one. One thing about little airplanes is you generally cannot fill all the seats, all the baggage areas, and the fuel tanks, and expect to get off the ground safely. Add an inexperienced pilot under a lot of social pressure, and maybe a few words from his boss “Screw the weight limit, just fly the f*cking plane”, and a bunch of more-or-less innocent people got dead. A damn shame.
