  1. Drew,

Bless you for what you’re doing for Peiper! I just sent you some $’s via PayPal.

  2. Give Peiper our best - I just sent out our monthly donation ($1.00) to a rescued horse who is celebrating her 30th birthday next week. If I remember maybe I can find some money next month. Or gasp - someone here gets a job! (My daughter went to a job opening Wed. - the guy she went into the interview with (they were doubling up, as so many people responded) has his Phd and is unemployed - not looking good for any of us).

I can’t imagine living without a tv - at all. ever.

  3. Holy cow, you guys are AWESOME!  I will get a check out in the mail ASAP.

Thank you everyone for helping to support BMEWS and the folks who put in the daily effort to make it work. Your help is very much appreciated, always!

The whole point of the “poor” point of my post was to point out that everything is relative, and that the standard of living in the USA is so high relative to the rest of the world that classic poverty hardly exists at all here.

On the other hand, Peiper and his wife are amongst the retired, living on a fixed income, and they aren’t getting any younger. And he has put so much work into this blog over the years without much to show for it other than a load of great online friends and the random package - Bundles For Britain on a very small scale - that shows up from me.

  4. I don’t know if you (Drew) have ever been overseas, but yes! poverty is relative. I’ve been to Karachi, Pakistan, a big port city. People living with their donkeys and chickens in the city. Not necessarily a bad thing.

Nor is the fact that peiper doesn’t own a TV. You may have forgotten, but they tax TV’s in Britain to support the BBC. I wouldn’t own one myself. Britain even has ‘TV police’ that go around looking for untaxed TVs. But I bet he’s got a DVD player and some sort of display. And if he’s got the display, and a computer, well, you can put them both together if you know what you’re doing.

peiper is probably better off by avoiding the BBC. It’s usually low-budget crap like Dr. Who or Blake 7.
