  1. Actually, the House of Commons would be equivalent to the US House of Representatives, while the House of Lords’ counterpart would be the US Senate.

  2. Interesting links Peiper.. i wonder how much of the same crap goes on in the American Govt that the pandering, hero worshiping, sniveling sacks of puss we call the press is too busy covering up with a concentrated weave of lies and ‘don’t look at the man behind the curtain, look at Bush’ campaign…
    It’s enough to sicken one…

  3. Doctor DETH:  The media is pretty much in the bag for the Democrats and has been for a long time.  They’re so confident this won’t get them into trouble, they’re not even bothering to hide it.  (And they wonder why their bottom lines are suffering so badly.)

Have you seen this crap at the Washington Post?:  Obama Delivers the Zingers at Journalists’ Dinner

[[ The president acknowledged perceptions that he’s a media darling: “Most of you covered me; all of you voted for me. Apologies to the Fox table.” ]]

  4. Macker ... wife says it’s reverse because it’s the Commons that actually pass the laws, but it goes to the Lords, they ask for amendments or veto a bill, but then it goes back to the House of Commons to have the final say.
The Lords don’t propose bills. So the House of Commons actually acts more like our senate.
