Despite the harshness of the terrain, and the dangers of the job they do, the US Marines will serve with courage, honor and distinction, as always.
Too bad the same can’t be said for the AP, which seems to either have no clue what a ‘record pace’ is (try any number of battles during the Civil War, or for modern history, June 6, 1944) or is trying to generate another public mindset that caused our loss VietNam.
A little tougher when it’s an all-volunteer force, innit, aP?
Can somebody explain to me why we allow Afghanistan to continue to grow opium poppies? It strikes me that we should offer them the option. Grow poppies and we will spray your entire crop with Roundup and you can starve, or alternatively grow a food/cash crop. Why do we piss about with these people?
My brother-in-law spent a few months with his Seabee battalion in Afghanistan, building the bases for those 7,000 Marines. He’s the S-3 of his battalion. When I called him two days after he came back, I said something that he already knew, but I wanted him to know that I knew it, too: OPSEC. Before his battalion went over there, they spent time in Iraq. It was his second time in Iraq, and he told me that a lot had changed there--mostly for the better.
Hopefully the ROE will allow them to do whatever needs doing there. God Speed to all and sundry.
I have a friend who is kitchen manager at a Carrabba’s. This fall Carabba’s (yummy Italian) and Outback (steaks) are sending a complete kitchen, crew, equipment and food to cook for the troops. She can’t disclose were exactly they will be , but, for 1 month in the fall her crew is going to be cooking every day. I really think this is a great program, you can’t buy that kind of goodwill. My family and I support both Carrabba’s and Outback as often as possible.
