1. Actually I have read elswhere thatthose boats are notorious for overheating in the gulf temps they operate in. Designed and built by Swedes, they were intended for operation in northern waters where the high op temps would not affect operation so much. So of course some Dumb admiral decide they would work in the hot temps of the gulf and Whalla, failure city.
   Never concede to complicity That which can be explained by Stupidity & Incompetence.

2. Honestly, I have to ask: What could POSSIBLY have been worth it?

   Assuming there WAS some kind of transfer intelligence wise, what in God’s Name would made it even remotely worthwhile?

   Because honestly, I can’t think of any situation in which this kind of conduct was remotely justified. There is nothing we could tell or give the Iranians that would be worth this, and if somebody disagrees I’d like to know.

   So we say that we’re involved in some kind of hush hush secret collaboration with the Iranians (or not so hush hush given IS)?

   Yeah well the Israelis were too way back when, and THEY didn’t have to put up with this schiesse! For most of the eighties Saddam Hussein’s Iraq was the overriding threat to both of them, which made the Jewish republic and the Iranian theocracy each others’ most powerful external allies vis-a-vis it. So they spent about a decade passing information and aid over to each other, including intel aid over the raids on things like the Iraqi reactor.

   With the Scuds hanging over their heads Israelis even referred to the “Islamic Republic” in even more glowing terms than Obama did.

   But even with this fact in mind- facing a MUCH more imminent threat to their existence than IS ever has been- NEVER. EVER. compromised themselves like this. They treated the Iranians as professional allies and forced them to treat them like it in turn. They had ways to pass intelligence to their frenemies that did not require them to be held hostage for a humiliating propaganda video.

   And this in an era before email.

   So why the hell can’t these clowns figure that out?

   Maybe, though that just raises the question of What The Heck made these morons call the Iranians rather than get the fleet to sort out its’ own stuff?
