  1. Well, for the really sweet defensive stuff, you just need a couple of boxes; feed a box or so to the pistol to see if it’ll eat them, then a couple of mags to carry.  No sucha thing as 7.62x38R; there’s 7.62x39 and 7.62x54R, but both of those are rifle rounds.  But yeah, everyone’s out of everything anyone wants.

  2. Gotcha. Oh yes it does!

It’s a real oddball orphan round made for the 1895 Nagant revolver, which had a gas seal concept that tried to fix the “side blast” effect you get when shooting a revolver. It didn’t work well; none of those “fixes” really do.

But the 7 shot revolver is quite sturdy, you can get one for under $100 to $150, you can shot .38S&W Long ammo in it or forge your own from .32-20 brass. It is not a powerhouse, but it is a solid shooter for cheap.

  3. If you want sticker shock, try shopping for British .455 ammo… It cost a mint to feed my poor Webley. Luckily, I have a ton of brass and molds for the slugs as well as a couple of cans of black powder as well as a few boxes of ammo I picked up from a retiring gun store owner when I bought out his stock of .45 ACP.

I also bought out his stock of .303 Enfield. Had to borrow some cash, but well worth it.

  4. Ya, my buddy went down to the scrap sealer last week and bought up every single .223 casing they had that was usable. That $150 buy will net him double+ that when reloaded and resold.

  5. For the Nagant, try .32 S&W. .38 won’t work. The 7.62x38 is .32, not .38.

  6. Sad thing is there isn’t any ammo available to replace what you shoot at the range. So we’ve had to curtail our range time - which just plain sucks!

Thanks libs, for creating yet another “solution” to a problem that didn’t exist.

  7. Bought two of those Nagants last year! Stupidest idea I’ve seen in a while. They are klunky pieces of shit - but STURDY pieces of shit. The cartridges are the oddest ones I’ve ever seen, having an itty-bitty neck at the mouth. And - yes - the .32S&W’s work fine except for the cylinder flash. But it doesn’t matter - since the pistols are about as accurate as a thrown rock.

  8. The cure to the “revolver problem” is a semi-automatic.
