2. Any prisoner rattling the cell’s single door has his hands bashed by hosepipe-wielding guards.

   Something that should be adopted in western jails as well.
   Good post Drew.  I hardly ever go to the Sun as they can be suspect on facts. Perhaps not in fact but that’s my take. But I think I should check em every now and then.  I did not see this article in any of our other papers. 

   Off topic but have read interesting magazine article by a journalist who went to some African country. Creepy. Anyway, stacks of western aid material and food stuff and meds, being sold by villagers.  They’re starving ppl and all the usual things you read. Of course selling off aid things from softhearted western countries is not a new story at all.
   Well, the French (I think) built something to carry water, or maybe it was for sanitation, and after all the construction was done and they left, the villagers tore everything up for the pipes as the metal had cash value.
   But here is the interesting part.

   The Chinese had been brought in to build some roadworks, and have none of the touchy-feely attitudes of the west. They brought in their own construction crews as the natives are pretty much worthless in their eyes.  The west hires and pays villagers who don’t work. The Chinese just get on with it and make money as well.
