  1. Much too sad that other countries don’t turn their hate and jealousy of US into improvements for themselves.

  2. You youngsters don’t appreciate what it was to first see a photo of the entire earth.  The photo appeared on posters with the legend: SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL PLANET!.

My Father, a man not known for his idealism and romanticism, said about the those who disdained or complained about the cost of the moon landings, “You know, most people are dumber than shit? They can’t see beyond Asshole, Indiana.”

  3. You are absolutely right Skipper! It great to be present at this key moment in history where we can whitness and be part of “The Aquisition of Technology”. I believe that the incrdible advances in chemistry, physics, didgital technology and every other area will snowball more and more resulting in ever more rapid advancement.

  4. It’s kind of funny that when I look at thhat picture I don’t see the “Fragile Thin Atmosphere” that the last shuttle commander said sshe saw.  Maybe being a moonbat changes one’s perspective of life.  What a shame. excaim  To me it’s beautiful. angel

  5. Asshole, Indiana LOL I think I’ve been there. It has a Horrible Inn and is on the road between Ft.Wayne and South Bend.

I still remember the first manned launch. It was a suborbital shot. We were herded into the school auditorium and watched what we could on a single 23” TV. Mostly smoke and fire as Alan Sheppard went for a short ride.

I didn’t get to see Armstrong landing on the moon. I was standing the mid watch on a destroyer in the Mediterranean. Radio Central thought we might want to hear it so they piped it down to us in Sonar Control.

Amazing progress in less than a decade. We seem to have gotten off the track, though.

Just a reminder: The last moon landing, Appollo 17 was in December 1972. That’ll be thirty three years in December. How did we lose the thread?

  6. Ah, cost and vision, my fellows - a surfeit of one and derth of the other.

But, the Grand Mullah of Saudi Arabia (our good friends, just watch thier TV adds reminding us of that) sez that the earth is flat and that anyone who holds otherwise is a blasphemer worthy of death!

    Ahlahg Achbark!
