No “Barking Sands”? Pearl Harbor is a symbolic place to test missile defence.
I reserve a wait-and-see attitude toward any military hardware until it has been used successfully in combat.
Interesting defense system. However, I see only one missile. If I remember my cold war facts correctly, wasn’t the real trick to nail incoming ICBMs in the upper atmosphere before they deposited a MIRV payload? Is that what they mean by a “separating ballistic missile threat target?”
Not sure how one missile could pull it off...but I admit, I’m nowhere near being well-informed in such matters.
GREAT PIC.
I’m impressed with the hardware we’re sending to sea these days. I’d truly love to deploy on an Arleigh Burke class tincan these days. I’d even settle for a day trip.
That’s a pic of one missile being launched. We don’t know if they fire multiple missiles at an incoming target as the Patriot system doctrine calls for or not. This is a test. Perhaps the doctrine will be different in a “real world” situation.
Yeah, I think that the “separating” threat indicates MIRV. There are supposedly also decoy targets deployed.
Nope, the MSM won’t be celebrating a successful test. They probably consider it not worth their time to report. After all, it would only damage their apparent agenda.
StinKerr: Thanks for the info. Yeah...I didn’t notice that the deck of the ship in the pic has rows of banks of these missiles. That put a little smile on my face...now that’s firepower!
That’s the MK-41 VLS system. A kick-ass missile launch system.
Do I not remember all the usual suspects coming out of orbit long enough to bray that “Star Wars” could never work? And not too long ago, if memory serves, with the usual MSM publicity circus for the pronouncements of donks from on high.
Suppose we fire all of THEM out of those missile tubes aboard that ship....oh, sorry, that would cause a global pollution issue of colossal proportions
(But it’s a NIIICE idea!!!)
