    WTH is a stodgy pudding? LOL

    Ok, I looked it up, but that really didn’t help. Roly Poly, spotted dick, Hollygog, treacle sponge ... huh? These are all baked goods, often with a dough made with beef suet instead of butter or lard, and with quite a bit of sweetener, and cooked by either steaming or by baking while in a liquid. So ... it’s comfort food. Sweet and solid. Not to be confused with meat puddings, which are cooked the same way, but usually don’t have all the sweetness.

    Marvelously foreign, those English. In America we put beef suet out for the birds in winter.
