1. Skipper, this is a Dostoyevsky scenario transliterated into a nauseating gutter soap opera.  If you have not seen the Raleigh Noise & Disturber spread on this incident, check THAT out.  It was front-page news yesterday and the day before.  It is enough to make you heave.

   By the way, is this not at least the second or third such case that’s come up this year?

   May Mr. Berkley rest in peace, and may the culprits suffer retribution beyond description.

2. You’re right, Tann. Too many spouses of military seem to be bumping off their mates as soon as they get home. This is indeed about the third or fourth one this year. Do you have a link to the local rag’s coverage of this?

4. That Survivors’ Benefit insurance sure could be tempting.  When I was in, Uncle Sap had all of us insured for $100,000.  Don’t know what it is now, but I’m pretty sure it’s higher.

   Hope she and all those involved get the big sleep.

5. It’s $400,000 now.  I had to update my beneficiaries because they bumped it up from $250,000 this year.
