  1. It was good of Hansen to fly over to give evidence. How much CO2 did that involve? This “trial” was a travesty. The jury must have been composed of crusties, hippies and assorted yetis. Truly I am horrified by this. So now when some tree hugging fuckwit smashes your 4x4 up because “you are killing the planet” they will get off scot free. There better be an appeal on this one or we might as well just give up on the rule of law. Oh and Drew there was another interesting aspect to this. The Conservatives have a spokesman called Zac Goldsmith. He is their green guru and has Cameron’s ear. In fact they want to get him into parliament. This ass clown also gave evidence at the trial. Honestly I despair at the UK. The lunatics are running the asylum now

I’m not keen on the “Daily Wail” but this guy shares my opinion on a lot of matters.

  2. So much for a “jury of their peers.”

Such outrages as this increasingly make a drumhead court-martial appear to be a viable and rational alternative.  When you’re in the sewer, even the gutter is up.

You’re right, Lyndon, the lunatics are running the asylum now.  But how long can it go on before the entire affair goes crash-burn?

    (sigh)

    confused

  3. Excellent link Lyndon! A little off topic, but it illustrates well the seemingly forced absent mindedness of the “middle of the road” population.

Today, the day after we marked the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America, is as good a time as any to examine where we find ourselves.

And the crazy outcome of the Heathrow bomb plot trial illustrates perfectly the schizophrenic nature of the Western response.

Hardliners like me are convinced we face a clear and present danger and that it’s only due to good luck and the vigilance and dedication of the security services on both sides of the Atlantic that we haven’t had more atrocities on the scale of 9/11, Madrid and the London transport bombings.

At the other end of the scale, there remain those headbangers - blinded by their hatred of George W. Bush, in particular, and Western democracy in general - who think 9/11 was a put-up job by the CIA and the Izza-ra-ay-lees as part of a conspiracy to wage war on peaceloving Muslims.

In the middle are the majority, who would rather stick their fingers in their ears, sing la-la-la, and hope it will all go away.

Even they can’t help being swayed by the conflicting arguments.

Fortunately, those charged with keeping us safe are winning most of the real battles, thwarting countless plots and saving goodness knows how many lives.

But when it comes to the propaganda war, the credulous and the conspiracy theorists are winning, aided and abetted by the ‘liberal’ Press and the broadcast media.

Ooh, I think I like this guy!

  4. Drew in the next paragraph he gets to the topic of the Greenpeace protest.

  5. I have a recommended solution:

    1) Install 15 - 20 cm (yes, we Americans can read metric too!  We can also count to 12… without taking our shorts off!, well.... Most of us. Obama supporters excepted...) steel spikes, pointed vertically, around base of said installations.

    2) About 20 M up the stack, grease liberally with Natural, Organic (tm) shortening. Don’t want them to slip off evil petroleum-based products, now do we?

    3) Allow vultures and assorted carrion a meal tickit. Do not remove rubbish as an example to tree-huggers who aren’t local. (How the hell did a bugger from NZ PAY for the trip?)

I think in the ‘States we’d just shoot them off the stack. Makes good long-range target practice.

Whaddaya think?  Damn, I guess I’d best make that trip to the UK before the freakin greenies ruin it.

  6. I like your solution, T, but I think I like shooting them off the stack even better.

Except that we might get busted for public littering.

    LOL
