Our Friends, The Saudis

  1. They are definitely two-faced.  On the one hand, tooting their dirty little camel-horn when they kill some terrorist, and under the table, handing millions out to terrorist groups.

Saudi Arabia is probably not as vital to our oil interests as it used to be.  We have increased production from our ‘buddies’ the Russkies (well, better buddies than are the Saudis), and especially if we can start some ‘Environmentally Freindly’ drilling in ANWR Alaska (it actually IS quite environmentally freindly).

I, personally would be very willing to pay more than $2 a gallon if I knew it was because we cut off totally our imports from this God-forsaken country.

Another issue entirely, and please don’t accuse me of being a tree hugger, is the huge potential for ethanol as a a motor fuel.  We are blessed with a gigantic agricultural production capacity here in the USA, and I beleive we should use it to our advantage and begin to crank out some good ol’ grain alkyhaw to run our pickup trucks on, not to replace gasoline entirely, but to offer it as an alternative.  Besides, you could always say you just filled ‘er up if you get pulled over for DUI.  Hah!

  2. Yeah, ethanol is great....now.  But as soon as you make it mandatory, government regulations kick in.  Then you have to deal with demand which might cause farmers to stop growing certain foodstuffs resulting in some food shortages and escalating prices for produce (remember, we have hundreds of millions of carsa all needing to be gassed up requiring millions of acres of corn to be grown!)

Then what happens when you have a bad season?  Prices skyrocket. And you still have those food shortages and increased consumer costs for produce.

Plus there have been studies showing that ethanol has harmful effects on carburetor/fuel injection systems plus I also heard it burns valves out faster.

In the meantime enviro-weenies will STILL complain we use too much oil.

    We can’t win.

    So burn oil.

  3. I guess it’s not the hippocratic oath they
ascribe to in med school in Saudi Arabia

    Must be the hypocritic oath.

    BTW, El Supremo,

You’ve a few two many hyphens therein.

Now, go and finish that pot of coffee.
