  1. A slap upside the head for Bush? “Somalia’s interim president Abdulahi Yusuf Ahmed said on Friday Somalia will not be like Afghanistan and Iraq – his government won in the fighting with Islamist movement with the help of Ethiopian forces.”

Well, I’m sure he has reason to be proud, even if “help” translates as both “did most of the job for us” and “saved our bacon at the very last second”. Who cares? The ICU is kaput. Now fix up your damn country already.

  2. I remember driving in Yuma, AZ in 2001 hearing about how the people of newly liberated Kabul were blasting western and indiginous music, as well as lining up to get their beards trimmed. Seems music is a powerful draw and people hate having it taken away.

    Go, you Lions of Judah!

  3. [overrated the Islamists’ strength and popularity. Part of the reason, analysts now say, is that the Islamists had an excellent propaganda machine.../quote]

...aka, The New York Times, Washington Post, the usual suspects.

  4. Egads, have we been wrong all along? That simply pumping in (and pumping up the volume) of music de jour would have won all along? Me thinks that the World is not the msm oyster and really most of the World does not want to be shia law slaves and minions to be sent to death for Allah Akbar and all that stupidity.

I am hoping that Saddam’s execution makes a (no pun intended) radical change in the World outlook on extremist terroristic violence. And that the majority of the World wakes up to the fact that it is the islamic radicals who are behind so much of the violence right now.

As for Somalia - better late than never.
