open borders and the right to migrate

  1. I remember listening to bbc radio 4 some time in the early 90’s and they were discussing legal migration, which was then about 50,000 pa into the UK. They had the head of UK Immigration who predicted exactly this scenario with hundreds of thousands of immigrants flooding in from Africa and beyond. He said that we might at some point have to consider what would once have been unthinkable and start using force to dissuade these people. To me it way past that point. The problem is that we are allowing laws drafted in the 1940’s to deal with displaced people to be used against us now with so called “asylum seekers” These people are not asylum seekers they are economic migrants pure and simple and they need to be dissuaded by force if necessary.

    As Milton Friedman rightly stated you can have open borders or you can have a welfare state. You can’t have both.
