  1. The coins reflect the condition of the government that made them.  Useless, overpriced, counterfeit, just a cheap imitation of what they should be.  Obama Money, from his stash.

  2. These things predate Obama.... Anyway, I believe they cancelled the whole plan before all of the planned coins were made. Just as well, they look like something from a Monopoly game. Amateurish, embarrassing.... My SIL gave me a whole roll (unasked) of Zachary Taylors for some computer help. I’m afraid to spend them because I’m sure most people won’t recognize them as “coin of the realm”. Prolly have to ho deposit them in the bank and let them deal with them. wink

  3. I didn’t know that Jim. They may predate Obama, but my comment still stands loser  titanic

  5. Just spend the crap at the post office. That is where I get most of them from. Since they give them as change so freely they recognize them as coinage.

  6. Yeah, it was Bush’s fault. wink These went into law in 2005. Oh well.  Ah, and I was wrong too, they haven’t been canceled exactly… just since 2012 they only mint them for the collector market. There’s still millions of them being stored in warehouses at huge expense.
The sad thing is that the feds arrested a guy making “Liberty dollars” out of actual silver and charged him with counterfeiting! No wonder the country is so screwed up.

  7. The Presidents coins are crappola - we collect them (such as it is, as our PO stopped giving them out) simply to finish off the folder we have - the Presidents Wives are real gold - go for over a grand new. We collect coins as I started with a nice collection of silver dollars from my childhood. Silver quarters, half-dollars and dime pre-1965 are still all silver. We use a local guy (we are trying to build a US Quarters folder for each grandkid - go in when we have extra $$ to buy a few) and Littleton - been happy with them.

Drew, consider yourself lucky to be moving along at such a fast pace. We finally settled the estate in Aug (3+ years) and now no one seems to be all that excited about the ‘stuff’ in my garage - which we are stuck with for what might be a long, long time. Hoping to just start sliding some of it into the garbage - now that no one is going to come after me for ‘doing something’ with the estate. Such a joke - I’ve weeded through the sentimental - the rest is what junk she used to cover up the valuable.
