  1. OCM, the Russkis jumped in at the last minute. Japan sent emissaries to Washington to deliver their unconditional surrender on August 10. The formal declaration was made August 14. The Russkis wanted to divide the Far East like they had Europe. Truman and MacArthur both said “HELL NO!” Thus was the conflict in Korea born. Now you know.

  2. Japan and the USSR actually had a formal neutrality agreement from April 13, 1941. It’s not that they were busy fighting the Germans at the time because Hitler didn’t invade them until later that year.
