  1. My (most liberal Dem in Senate) state loon said that 40% of gun sales are private (which of course avoids the background check) - other than inner city pockets of gang bangers and really rural survivalist types (see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ooa98FHuaU0 ) - I think that number is a bit too high (fear mongering again) - I have two questions:
    1) Does anyone know where my liberal loon ‘representative’ got that figure from?
    and
    2) Where can one find (yes I know, it’s almost impossible) a closer figure on private gun sales?

  2. 1) I could show you, but I’d have to take my pants off.

    2) Good luck. Person to person sales for cash are essentially untraceable; the last vestige of freedom and free enterprise. No wonder the government wants to regulate it - and probably glom on sales tax to boot.

Here’s a funny thing though ... a friend lent me Rush’s 20 year old book, “how things ought to be”. In it he describes liberal tactics and the Marxism that underlies it all. It’s stunning in that 20 years, not a damn thing has changed. The GOP still rolls over, the left are fear mongering liars, etc. One of the chapters was on The Homeless (remember them? we only have homeless people when an R is in the White House), and how the “3 million homeless” figure was traced to one guy, a known liar. Yet it fit the media’s commie agenda, so it was never ever questioned.

That 40% number may be of the same ilk. But if it isn’t, then take the 200 million guns sold with NICS since it’s inception, and add 80 million more. Yet the media still says there are ‘only’ 270 million guns in the population. Maybe so, but that would mean that a whole lot of people are buying and selling them left and right all the time. Maybe it really is big business arming up the gangs and the ghetto rats, like mayor Bloomberg says.
Not that that makes sense; why pay 20% over retail when you can get a street gun for $50?
(Ok, because the gun is new, actually works, has no crimes attached to it, etc)

Me, I just seem to buy them. Only gun I ever traded in was a Ranger shotgun, a Winchester POS cheapo special.

  3. I just found it!  YEAH. I was right - that 40% is a crock. It comes from a survey of 251 people before the Brady Act required gun shows to run background checks on sales.

This is war. There is no doubt about it. I just hope that some of our ‘representatives’ on the right/middle have the guts to stand up and help defend us, We The People. I’m sadly, not so sure.
