3. Yeah, that. Maunder Minimum. The bottom line is that there is just as much, and just as believable, evidence to suggest that not only are we facing an ice age, we’re already in one. The only reason we don’t recognize it as one is BECAUSE of global warming slowing down the transition. Think about the amount of wood smoke put into the atmosphere during the 17th and 18th centuries, or the amount of coal soot and smoke put into the atmosphere during the 19th.

   I’m not saying it’s so, I can’t claim to know. But then, just as I consider myself an agnostic in religious matters, I’m the same here. Unlike many people, I am comfortable enough with my own lack of omniscience that it doesn’t disturb me not to know all the answers.
   Regardless, the climate change debate appears to *in reality* be pretty much in the same place as the “sheer chance vs. intelligent design” debate. Both sides have decent data on their side, neither side has concrete enough, confirmable enough data to conclusively state that the other side’s conclusions are incorrect.
