The anit-nuke moonbats shine regarding 3MI. I lived in Baltimore in 1979, down wind of the plant. Yeah, it was kinda scary for a while. But, NOTHING happened. No radiation leak. No fire. No end of the world. YET, just 3 months ago someone told me that 40,000 (YES forty thousand!)people have died as a result of the 3MI “disaster.” When I pointed out that I was there, and lived in Baltimore until late 1988, and that NOBODY died as a result of the accident, she told me straight up that I “didn’t know what I was talking about!” An otherwise intelligent and personable woman I have know for years just allows her brain to go to putty on this issue. Pity.
To be anti-nuke is to be anti-intelligence and pro stone age. Obama is killing the coal power industry, so where will the power come from then? Windmills hamster cages I guess.

I was a Navy nuclear operator at the time and we had to read the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s reports on it. If I remember correctly, their problem was relying on computer readouts instead of actually going around and recording instrument readings at least hourly. The computer was not giving real-time readings. It was backed-up at least two hours. By the time they saw any abnormal computer readings, the damage was done. If they had taken actual readings, they would have seen the problem developing and either fixed it, or done a controlled shutdown. Either would have avoided the damage.
