  1. Maybe he had folks like me in mind Drew.

I see no absolute wrong in being racist if it means having a preference or choice of who I associate with. Like seeks like, or it did until social engineering took over. But that didn’t mean I rejected friendship based on race.
I saw nothing good about forced busing. Generally, the white neighborhoods got the dregs of the inner city but oh dear me. We weren’t to say that out loud.

Was it wrong to keep a qualified student with the brains and grades out of any school based on race? Of course it was wrong. But I really believe forced anything adds to problems.

In the era I grew up in and in the area I lived in (Blue Hills Ave area, Htfd,Ct) it was all white, nice houses, two family homes, mostly Jewish but not all. There’s a good reason for much separation and seeing what once was a very nice place turned into an inner city dump lends proof that sometimes, racist thinking is not always wrong. Separation is not always wrong.  People do not wake up one fine morning bored and decide to add excitement to their life and think, oh. Maybe today is a good day to become racist. Events and experience turn folks in that direction.

Anyway, blacks aren’t the major problem in a way. Stupid, blind, white liberals are.

  2. Extremely violent race riots occured when the BOSTON school district was told it had to integrate its school system.  This was several years AFTER the southern schools had been forcebly desegregated.
