  2. Can I get mine with whipped cream?

  3. What a load of cods wallop, way too much fattening carbs there.

  4. So where to start - Our house is almost completely GLUTEN FREE - oops there goes those ‘essential’ whole grains. No jobs - I can’t and won’t run two separate kitchens - so for now we are all GF. Next we have FOOD Allergies - so many FOODS are verboten in our house - not being used at all. I’ve tried those sugar substitutes - give me headaches and we use splenda as an ant killer (non-toxic, so to speak, for the counters).

And finally I’ve done all the key things that they ‘claim’ are the bestest for us - quit drinking, quit smoking, stopped drinking soda, up the water intake, walk 7 days a week, get some (20 minutes most days) exercise, cut sugar consumption by a good 90% - and guess what - my numbers have shot up into the stratosphere!

Could it be we don’t have any jobs, just found out our house is going under water (only 5 grand but hey, it’s starting) and wondering just how long we can hang financially like this? STRESS - and these freaks are just piling onto the problem.

Remember the MEAT we are getting at the grocery is not the meat our parents ate - these are animals shoved into as small a space as possible, fed manufactured food and shot up with antibiotics - not the fat, lazy and sassy beasts roaming about free spaces eating (gasp) Grass. And of course so much of what is sold in the grocery (even in the ‘natural’ aisle) has sugar in it.

Know that the ‘numbers’(to define disease) have been ‘coming down’ since - oh gee the 1990s. I wonder why you ask? - good question - that is when Big Pharma discovered how to make billions by putting everyone on cholesterol meds and are now moving that way with diabetes. [the number for a diagnosis of type 2 used to be 140 until 2003 when they lowered it to 126 but now anything over 100 is ‘treated’ as diabetes - and it is also being done with weight - lowered numbers put more people into the ‘overweight/obese’ category] So are we becoming a ‘sicker’ society or one manipulated into believing that there is a terrible healthcare problem/rise in disease when simply the numbers are being manipulated by the very entity that is making billions by having more people defined as ‘sick’?

And as the controlling Gov came up with the food pyramid in 1992, the plate in 2011 - it too will be found to as much bs as everything else they do. I am NOT You and You are NOT I - how dare The Klingon War Bride force TWMBR & GOV to treat US ALL THE SAME.

Also remember - that as soon as we are born - we are terminal.

Just what I want - Uncle Obama controlling my life. I’ve never done blow (even when I had the money) - he’s making himself GOD - by what CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT?

  5. ’anything over 100’? I thought that a blood glucose level of 103 was pretty much normal? Hey, I’m not a diabetic; I don’t even play one on TV.

But yeah, the ‘numbers’ for lead levels, mercury levels, cholesteral, radiation, etc have been steadily getting smaller for decades, while at the same time the membership bar for various systemic illnesses has been lowered. Watch your TV and you’ll soon ‘learn’ that one in ten kids or more is autistic. BULL. SHIT. And ADD, ADHD, and so on. MORE. BULL. SHIT. If the population was really as diseased as Big Pharma wants us to believe, our society would come to a crashing halt.

I agree with Chris too ... perhaps MOOchelle should have drawn up a Not Moving plate for the more sedentary among us. 60gm of slow carbs a day, 1400 calories. Atkins works. As do all those other glycemic index diets out there.  It’s not the fat it’s the carbs. While Gluten Free does not always imply Low Carb, IIRC it gets a whole lot of processed flour and sugar out of your diet, which probably has a similar result ... but I’ll leave it to Wardmama to provide the details and correct my wrong assumptions if she feels like it.

So the MyPlate thingie is wrong from the very get-go. Another huge waste of tax money.

  6. Yes low carb/low sugar is the way to go - you just have to watch what you eat - no matter what the diet. And yes - reading the American Diabetic Association - anything under 126 is not to worry - but alas the local drs - don’t see it that way. I even checked to see if the local guy we just left was charging our insurance for diabetic ‘supplies’ that I’d not even been told to get much less asked about to deny using (i.e. I don’t test my self at home - big news to me I was ever told to do it). And now the MTF is going that way too. Well - maybe it is just OH - don’t know, don’t care anymore. I know how to read, and do a little background research (and I’ve been tracking my numbers since 1986).

American diets need to be cut - as I mentioned about our meat not being our parents meat - the same is true of our lives. We have a much more sedentary life - which actually (did you know this little trivial fact?) is how ‘Saturday morning mowing the lawn’ came about - to help the ‘suburban’ crowd get some exercise. Postage stamp size yards compared to the larger (sign of making it) yards of yesteryear. The social damage done by letting preds, pervs and other criminals to get-out-of-jail free/repetitively putting our children in danger of that old fashioned - playing out side (not to mention the safety bs which makes playing a hassle to all) and of course the plugged in/tech kids who wouldn’t know what ‘play’ is if it didn’t make noise.

Dishwashers, washing machines (my mom actually had an old wringer washer in our MT place (and we also had an outhouse and a wood stove) - taught me a lot about how to survive in the real world), clothes off the rack, processed food (heck even just getting the raw materials at the local grocery- our parents started out growing a lot of what they ate) and even vacuums all take away from the real exercise of living a real life.

Our diets haven’t gotten real or even a realistic makeover - and when you add in ‘going out to eat’ - there is a day+ (PF Changs Mongolian Beef (YUM) has two days worth of carbs - about a week of sugar) worth of calories, carbs, fat and sugar. And with the ‘majority’ of women working - how many people eat out, often?

GF doesn’t always imply Low Carb if you concentrate on the baked good aspect of GF. Which to get the kiddies & people like my daughter (picky eaters) to ease into it, is where a lot of people start. The field is the fastest rising grocery field in 2010 - so the offerings are improving. And other than certain items (baked goods, pasta, breads, pizza, batter & thickening agents) - the diet is not that much different. Due to the GF and allergies - I am buying less and less processed - as I could spend all day in the store reading labels. And that isn’t a way I want to spend my time.

Most diets can be good - any diet can be bad - it is all on using good common sense, getting the best (and closest to raw) food possible and MODERATION in all things.

The parameters of this MyPlate give only very vague proportions not specific serving sizes. And does not even mention a plate size (diabetic diets at least mention a 9” or less size plate - talk about being forever hungry). We did figure out we eat on a regular basis LESS meat than these food nazis recommend - which means in addition to the rest I mentioned in my last post - My Numbers should be perfect.

I hate this whole deal - as it makes me fear food - and food is glorious. And necessary - show me a politician that is necessary at all. I’ll drive on dirt or use a horse, if it means we can get rid of forever these control freaks who are sc*wing us on our own dime.
