  3. WOW, what a weapons cache. That kid had quite the arsenal. I’m sure the city is sleeping better knowing that a gun owning lunatic is off the street. Cripes!

  4. Well, you know, if you let this kind of thing go too far, that kid might have become an, uuugghhh, shudder, American! Eeeewwwwwhhhhhh

  5. Once i thought that liberal stupidity had something to do with cold weather as it seems to increase as you go north.  But that theory doesnt explain California or all the sane hunters/trappers I know in upstate NY.  It is hard to understand the mentality that would word this article in such alarming terms.  “the majority of the guns were loaded”.  Oh dear, those pellets could have gone off at any time.  Geez, what morons.  All my kids (6) started with BB guns and Pellet guns to learn how to safely handle a gun.

  6. When I lived in Michigan, a pellet pistol that had a rifled barrel was required to be registered just like any other handgun.  I moved from Michigan in 1992 so I don’t know if that law is still on the books but a man from Alpena, MI was facing prison for possessing a unregistered handgun...pellet gun with rifled barrel.  He bought the gun at K-Mart and was never informed of the requirement because K-Mart didn’t know of it either.

Back then their were no CCW permits in Michigan.  The only way to legally transport a handgun was you had to be in possession of a hunting license and were going to hunt with the gun or you had membership in a gun range and were on your way to/from the range.  Of course, these requirements didn’t apply to the criminal element.

  7. Yes, Ottawa will be MUCH safer with 24 air guns off the street! This kid was a one man crime wave, They even sent the Guns and Gangs Unit after him.. They wouldn’t do that if he wasn’t a total miscreant! HOW the hell can someone be ‘disturbed’ by the sound of an air gun?
Feh, It’s Canada.. Things are much different there. Unless I am mistaken they fall under the draconian British gun laws, so my surprise is diminished by that much more.

  8. What’s next?  Banning water pistols and cap guns?  I bet you already have to license airsoft and paintball guns.

  9. Guess what.  If you have a paint ball gun that shoots paint balls faster than 750fps (I believe that is the speed of sound) that the BATF treats it as being a firearm.  Just think if you had a very large, very fast potatoe gun then they could concieveably come after you for having made a canon.

  12. I haven’t kept up with the Canadian gun laws. Have they banned everything like England?
I thought it was just handguns so far. Can someone fill me in?

  13. As I understand it the Canadians have banned handguns and “assault rifles” but you can buy rifles and shotguns. The laws are much less restrictive than in Britain where in order to own a shotgun the police want to know where you will use it. (Like the criminals is going to tell them “well you see officer there is this bank in the High Street....)

Anyway I digress. The story we have here is one of gun abuse. OK so it was a pellet gun. Last year a child was shot with a pellet gun here and died. If you can’t be responsible you shouldn’t be allowed to own a weapon. The pellet gun is still capable of killing someone. Furthermore since the pellets are generally sub sonic it is harder to determine where the shot originated from. I am against gun control but morons are morons and they should be prosecuted because they give a bad name to legitimate gun owners.
