  3. Rich - that article is extraordinarily well put.  I like his approach methodically applying basic principles to the known facts.

This piece in particular got my attention:

Piss Christ or a museum which exhibited photos of naked women dressed in Jewish ritual garments are committed against the unresisting making them the theological equivalent of spiteful vandalism. There are no Jews or Christians murdering artists or bombing museums. By attempting to enforce the theocracy of blasphemy laws, Muslims made the Mohammed cartoons into a symbol of free speech.

Those who are fully comfortable with their faith, honestly committed to G-d as they understand G-d, need not enforce it with fear.

  5. I got into a bit of a slanging match with some former colleagues over a related issue. Someone posted a link about the Al-BBC reporter who interviewed the daughter of Polish Jews who had survived the Holocaust. This was not long after the murders in Paris. He was trying to equate what happened there to the “suffering” of the Palestinians in Gaza.

The poster was of the opinion he had done nothing wrong. I made the point that maybe if his parents had been in Auschwitz he might feel different. I then got a load of people responding that the Holocaust doesn’t excuse Gaza, blah, blah and others were trying to lecture me about freedom of speech. What really bothered me was a kind of casual anti-Semitism that in my view is becoming acceptable amongst the liberals now. I venture to suggest that most of the people not offended by Wilcox are card carrying Guardian readers who are all pro gay marriage and wimmins rights. These are the first things that will go when there are enough mad mullahs to get their own seats in Parliament.

In response to the free speech remark I retorted that the people killed in the kosher market had nothing to do with cartoons, they were murdered simply because they were Jews and this is what should really worry people. Sadly too many bed wetting libtards still don’t get it.

  6. You’re right about the casual anti Semitism of the Liberals.  They don’t even see it.

A few years ago, I came to discuss Israel and the Palis with a Liberal (his wife’s a professor at Berkeley).  It was a short conversation, one of his first comments was that because I was Jewish, I couldn’t possibly have an objective opinion.

    It was a short conversation.

  7. When hearing the statement “I am going to kill you.” a conservative recognizes it as threat and takes appropriate action; a liberal interprets it as a cordial invitation to negotiate.
