  1. Gun Grabbers Gun Grabbers everywhere! The recent events in New Orleans and Europe and reading much of Kim DuToits website before it was taken down really got me going. My new (to me) Mossberg 590 I found on Guns America is in the mail. Although I have always had some guns I was not using them and preparing for trouble if it came. I have realized that I had been slacking in the home (and business) defense areas. NO MORE!! I now make regular ammo purchases at Walmart and other places to build up my stock. I have a few more holes in my gun collection that need to be filled and I will continue to work on that. I am going to join the NRA and my local gun range (3 miles away!) that has rifle, pistol, and shotgun shooting days. And just because the Califoristan Moonbat politicians hate those 50 BMG rifles so much I have out one on my list of guns to purchase.

  2. Hey, straight child killing gun toters - your enumerated right to keep weapons is irrelevent! What about my unstated right to marry my boyfriend? Huh?

My pal Rickvid let me use his computer for this; he wants me to make that perfectly clear.

  3. Mayor Gavin Nuisance has said the law probably won’t withtstand legal scrutiny but has symbolic value

Try this symbolic act dickwad: Get a broom and a saw. Saw the handle off the broom, leaving the rough edges and splinters intact. Drop your trousers and skivvies. Bend over and grip the broom firmly in both hand behind you—sawn end pointing toward your ass. NOW, as suddenly and powerfully as you can ....

  4. Joining the NRA is a must for every gun owner.

Fighting these ridiculous laws takes cash. For $35 you can feel better about yourself, and get a magazine to boot.

  5. Hey, straight child killing gun toters - your enumerated right to keep weapons is irrelevent!

Child killing gun toters? WTF?  It is a Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.  The 2nd Ammendment guarantees the 1st Ammendment.  I propose that many more children are killed by abuse than were ever killed by guns.  Your ad-hominem attack leave much to be desired.

What about my unstated right to marry my boyfriend? Huh?

I’m inferring by your comment that you are homosexual.  Too much information that I neither wanted to know nor really cared one iota about in the first place.  Instead why don’t you hop on over to the Daily Kos for a liberal rant?

Rickvid may be quite angry when he finds out what you’ve posted.

  6. BobF, thanks for the 00 buck tip, many people are in agreement with you, I did alot of online research over the last couple of months and 00 Buck and some slugs seem to be what people favor. Shotgun ammo stock now at about 100 00 Buck and 30 slugs just to get started then going far higher. Also about 1200 rounds for my trap guns. I am having quite a bit of fun just getting the guns and and ammo together. And most importantly learning alot about many things.

  7. I joined the NRA just now.

  8. Movie trivia, THE DEAD POOL (1988) “Permission was given to film in San Francisco, despite protests from citizens who thought Harry Callahan was not a good representative for the city.” They thought Alan Alda would be better.

  9. I joined the NRA just now.

That’s money well spent to ensure the continued existence of you hobby.
Not sure where you live, but it’s amazing how gun rights change from one part of the country to the next. We have to fight to assure that the DC’s and SF’s are the exception.

  10. Paul,

Wal-mart is fine for buying ammo to stop garden variety home invaders.  If you are seeking professional grade ammo at reasonable prices so that you will be prepared in the event of the complete breakdown of law and order go to ammoman.com.  You can buy sleeves (50 rounds) of shotgun ammo there for good prices.  Extra ammo should be purchased for a couple of practice sessions.  I use the FEDERAL TACTICAL 00 BUCKSHOT LAW ENFORCEMENT HIGH ENERGY-LOW RECOIL Part Number #12GA-0030, 0040 ammo.  The web site states that the general public may purchase this ammo.

Home defense distances are relatively short, so extreme amounts of powder are unnecessary.  The Federal tactical ammo is designed to kick less and provide the home defender/Law enforcement person with more control in desperate life threatning engagements.  Double ought buck is useful because it penetrates deep enough to stop the threat.  Do not fall prey to suggestions to use bird shot.  Bird shot will not stop a murderous attacker in most cases even at close range.  While double ought is in general less penetrating than say a 9 mm round, double ought will still go thru several layers of sheet rock.  Many people spread rummors that you don’t need to aim a short barreled shotgun.  Home defense ranges are short enought that the spread will be less than the size of the bottom of a coffe mug.  You must aim a shotgun even with double ought, although you can aim a shotgun much quicker and more confidently than a pistol.

Slugs are extremely penetrating.  I saw a test on a web site of bullet proof glass (polycarbonate actually) once.  .45ACP, 9mm, .223 Remmington (5.56mm), .308 Winchester (7.62mm Nato) all failed to penetrate the glass.  The shotgun slug shatered the glass and penetrated in one shot.  Other tests showed that the shotgun slug will go through quite a few walls before becoming non-harmful.  Slugs may be useful for defense in certain situations, but beware of the substantial penetrating powers and the heavy kick.

  11. Guess maybe I’m just a dumb redneck Texan. I don’t get it…
How can a city pass an ordinance that is in direct conflict with state law? How can they even think that people would give up their weapons when what they have done is to try and abrogate their 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms? Isn’t there some law in California that says it is illegal to pass ordinances that are illegal in themselves? Is this a dummyocracy? (OK, I made that last one up)

Well, that pretty much shoots my trip to the West Coast down. I was going to try to visit my daughter out in San Diego, but now I don’t even want to cross that state line. I heard that military and police were supposed to be the only ones that were able to have weapons. That’s good, my daughter and son-in-law are both Marines!

.... and they’re both from Texas and both know which end to point where!

  12. How can a city pass an ordinance that is in direct conflict with state law

Because Mayor Newsome has no respect for laws other than his own.  This is coming from the man who went against the state ban on gay marriages and allowed marriage licenses for any same-sex couple that wanted them.

That takes care of any plans to ever go to California.

  13. If you were ever curious about just how may sheets of drywall that 00 is going to go through after passing through the criminal who broke into your house, check out the Box O Truth.  Interesting ‘real world’ penetration tests( Pistol vs Rifle vs Shotgun ) on a variety of targets/backstops: doors, wallboard, brick, locks, bullet resistant plexi, bullet resistant vests and MORE!

  14. FOC: The bottom line seems to be that drywall is concealment, not protection, and that anyting that will stop a bad guy will go thru walls too.  I remember my Father warning me against “shootin’ head-high thru the woods”—especially with a rifle.

Still, my preference is a shotgun for close encounters: 1. intimidating to look down the barrel 2. harder to miss 3. doesn’t travel as far, thru walls or not.  Firearms season for deer starts this weekend in Indiana. I’m happy that hunters are restricted to “punkin’ ball” shotguns.  The thought of “buck-fever” greenhorns blazing away with a 30.06 . big surprise
