Not only a great big telephoto, but a really tall and sturdy tripod.
One that you can set a Barret 50 on, because anything else is too fucking small.
Now now Steve, it was in a national park so guns are not aloud I assume. Funny thing is the Bear was all armed up and ready to rock.Bear=1,Hiker=0. Always bet on the bear.
A better headline = granola cruncher intentionally forces out-of-season bear death.
I think that hikers walking alone in bear country should have a signed form indicating that you the hiker realize that you can/may/will become a bear snack and if that occurs there will be no body recovery or injury of the bear…
Apparently this is one of those touchy-feely folks that was not carrying (a machine gun/and or mortar) and hiked alone within the 1/4 mile danger zone of the bears… Of course in Denali the bears hunt you, and he was told this exact danger ahead of time… and now a bear doing what comes naturally is killed because of the fault of the human…
I suppose another option would be to bill/charge $$$ to the surviving family for the out-of-season hunt expenses/body recovery/kill/cut open the bear.
aka. cost of intentionally with forethought killing a bear out-of-season = 500,000.00
finding/killing/recovery another 75,000.00 (a modern form of bear-baiting)
Might make these people think before venturing into bear country un-armed and/or unwilling to personally harm the bears that harm them…
