  3. Today I am exceptionally proud that George W. Bush is our President.  I just read the outline of his peace plan for Lebanon.  It is bold and definite.  It is mulitlateral.  It has the potential to protect Lebanon from ANY army, Israeli, Syrian or Palestinian.  It has the potential to Protect Israel from attacks by Hizb Allah in the North (Gaza is another subject).  In general, it is so well constructed and carries such assurance for everyone’s safety that only the Palestinians (also Syria and Iran) could possibly oppose it.  I wonder how long it will take before this latest proposal in favor of sovreignty and peace will be shot down in flames and who will take take the first shot.

The key is that all parties must want peace.  Of the groups that have an interest in the situation, only the Israelis and the Lebanese have ever demonstrated a serious interest in living in peace.  Hizb Allah will be satisfied only with the destruction of Israel and the imposition of Sharia, ditto Iran.  Syria wants to play power politics and can only do so when there is turmoil, preferably murderous turmoil.  The other countries in the region are too afraid of pissing off the mad Mullahs to really push for peaceful coexistance.

Ah well, it was a good plan while it lasted.  At least it can’t be said that we didn’t try.
