2. If I were a French (or any other foreign) politician worthy of my salt, I would want that tawdry demagogue to win.  I would be certain that I could do whatever I pleased with him.

   C’est un garçon mal élevé et de mauvaise foi!

   A parvenu!  A popinjay!  A mountebank!

   But that is as it should be.  That will endow him with a raging hunger for respect and acceptance, and a desire to overcompensate in search of them!  Snap your fingers at this paysan, and mon Dieu, he will jump through your hoops like a circus dog!  We may get anything we want from him!

   And who could be blamed for taking such a point of view?  Is there one inkstain on that demogogue’s record to suggest that any other point of view is warranted?
