  1. I fitted a pair of the 50w halogen replacement LEDs in our shower cubicle. Taking a shower is like being on the Star Trek transporter now. For a nominal 5W power consumption they put out a huge amount of light. However some of the chinesium LED bulbs like so may things from that part of the world are utter garbage.

  2. A company called CREE makes some amazing powerful LEDs. They got their start making bulbs for tactical flashlights, and have enlarged the business to do home lighting. They are a bit on the spendy side, but OMG, the amount of light put out by a 1/4” square surface is amazing. LEDs are the future, but I do miss the simple old time incandescent bulb. Good old 100w Soft White with its soft yellow glow.

  3. They are real spendy but somebody makes t8 led replacement bulbs.  You just install them into the fixture and go.

  4. Stephan, Cree does make such a fixture, which they say is a 10 minute job. hahahaha. What they have is a 3 strip light kit that replaces the T8s and the ballast in a 2 bulb troffer. I think it costs around $100. I have no idea if the heat output is low enough to allow 2 kits to be run in one troffer box because that’s what it would take to pump out the right amount of lumens. There is a video at YouTube.
