1. Years ago when I used to work on farms we would get gangs of gyppos to pick potatoes. They went from crop to crop, whatever was in season. These pikeys were relatively settled. They were on welfare at the same time of course. There were other more mobile pikeys that would descend on places and turn them into tips. Many of them were Irish However in the past decade or so the “yooman rights act” combined with a change in Irish law on travellers has made more of them move from Ireland. We call them “shed draggers” They have taken advantage of political correctness and the pathetic laws in Britain to trample of other peoples rights.

   However these pikeys are generally ethnically similar to Anglos. They claim to be “Romany” ie descended from the original gypsies who I believe originated in India or in that region but really centuries of inte marrying with the locals has diluted the “Romany” look.

   However in “Eastern Europe” the gypsies have remained in enclaves for centuries. There is no doubt they have suffered discrimination. Though some of this is because they do steal and live off the state. They marry their daughters off in their early teeens, they are involved in prostitution and are generally pretty undesirable. They are much more easily recognised by their swarthy appearance and in the case of a lot of kids they tend to have a high incidence of genetic problems. If you have ever seen the bajo player in Deliverance you will get the idea.

   Before the Berlin wall came down they tended to stay put, but in recent years firstly they started coming from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. Then when Romania and Bulgaria joined the EU they started coming to Britain in the thousands. Taking full advantage of the welfare available and the thieving opportunities. The Romanian and Bulgarian police have been doing hand stands ever since. Their crime rates have never been so low!
