  1. Skipper,
As someone who worked in the medical field for years, those types of questions always lead me back to Creation vs Darwinism.
All life is of the Master’s design.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made…

  2. Ah, some would say this was a chicken - egg thing. I just say that we’re all the scions of prions.

  3. Melissa is absolutely correct.

    In the beginning.....

  4. 1st cell more than likely Motorola corp -
On a bit more serious note, the Darwinians would have you believe the 1st cell crawled out of the ocean and onto a beach. monkey

  5. In the beginning.....

is a cop-out.  There ain’t no definitive answer, Skip!  And you know that.  You so bored that you need to start a civil war?  Have mercy on us, man.

  6. Cell division is also popular in jails and prisons.  According to Hollywood, two
prisoners per cell.  Don’t hit me!

  7. Of course there is no definitive answer, HR. That’s the point. I just wanted to see how many of you could still think with a hangover from last night.

    LOL

Seriously, for all those unanswerable questions we can only rely on faith and the hope that someone or something out there knows and is keeping it all together.

“IN THE BEGINNING ...” isn’t a cop-out. It’s our warm, fuzzy security blanket for those times when we realize we don’t know squat about anything.

Officer Pupp has the correct answer. The first cell came from ... the warden. Life is a prison and we’re all on death row. Depressing, but true.

Condemned without a trial, imprisoned for all our days.

DAMN! I think I just had an existential moment.  toilet_monster

  8. Moving out into space, going in a line following the expansion of the universe, and arriving at the very first matter expelled from the Big Bang, moving beyond, what would you see?

Reepicheep found out, and we will, too, eventually.

  9. Dr. George Wald Professor Emeritus of Biology at Harvard/Nobel Prize winner in Biology in 1971: “There are only two possible explanations as to how life arose: Spontaneous generation arising to evolution or a supernatural creative act of God … there is no other possibility. Spontaneous generation was scientifically disproved 120 years ago by Louis Pasteur and others, but that just leaves us with only one other possibility … that life came as a supernatural act of creation by God, but I can’t accept that philosophy because I do not want to believe in God. Therefore, I choose to believe in that which I know is scientifically impossible, spontaneous generation leading to evolution”

So we can never know; but one is impossible! How does that work?
