My baby niece got married!

Yes, as a matter of fact, I do feel old. Especially since this is the youngest daughter of my baby sister.
I sent them $100. Earmarked exclusively for a decent bed.
You have to agree, Erika is such a show-off!

  4. Congratulations to the happy couple.

You have snow - today we are supposed to be at 60 degrees. What a damn crazy state (I believe you also live in OH) - want to win the lottery (or get a job, whichever comes first) so that we can get the hell out of here.

  5. Congrats!  My baby nephew’s oldest son just got married too.  I feel like an artifact.

  6. I’m in Ohio wardmama, they are in Colorado. They get a lot more snow there. We’ve only had a dusting once. I’ve yet to have to shovel any snow this year. But then we usually get hit hard in February.

Macker, I don’t think he’s safely gone anywhere. Yet. Navy equipment or not. If he does get deployed, may he come back safely. He’s got my niece for a wife, and if he’s even half the Marine he appears to be, should have a child in the oven by now. I know Erika would be an enthusiastic participant in that endeavor. She tells her uncle (me) stuff she probably wouldn’t say to her mother. I guess that’s what uncles are for.

And Yankee, yes she is beautiful. Our family turns out good looking women. Our menfolk look like me. Sad. Really sad.

  10. If you guys keep this up, I’ll post more photos from the wedding. Is that a threat? Or a promise? Got a few that show my baby niece with my baby sister (her mother) I keep forgetting that I’m almost 52, so ‘baby sis’ is 48. Yikes!

  11. An old Polish toast to the newlyweds:

    Long life!

    Much Happiness!

    Many children!

  12. CenTexTim,

That should be a regular toast, not an ‘old Polish’ toast. How say you?  Shall BMEWS rehab an ‘old Polish’ toast? Yes?

So say we all! (I’m sure Macker will love the BSG reference)

  15. Marines in Colorado - Who knew? Explains the snow.

I like the toast. Last wedding I went to was my hubby’s baby sister. Older daughter is po’d I did not go to her wedding last Sept. (technically, it was her 3rd wedding) and at mid-month - we had a whopping $100.00 to get through until October - so no money to drive to Missouri for a backyard wedding. The two older kids still do not understand how hard it is to get a job in THIS economy when you are pushing 49 (hubby) or 57 (me) or 23 (youngest daughter with no job experience what-so-ever), especially when in OH. And rabidly anti-union.

Sort of like drug dealing, prostitution and contract killing - there are just some things - no matter how bad it gets - we won’t do for a buck. Wish the damn liberals had a moral (or functioning brain cell or two) to grasp what having values, beliefs and core convictions are all about.

  16. wardmama, I got some photos of my high school buddy LTC Christopher in Afghanistan. In the winter. I don’t know about the Marines, but the Army seems to take it in stride! Explains the snow!

I like the toast. Hopefully, if he’s half the Marine he seems to be, I’ll be a great-uncle in a few months!
