  1. I’ve found the Daily Mail to be pretty good.  Even though they’re typo central and I sometimes suspect the editors of starting their refreshments early, they’re facts have always been good.

I have no trouble believing the report.

  2. You handed us a laff with the remark about starting their refreshments early. We have on more than one occasion, thought the same. The print version not always much better with missing words or double words or a line that ends and there is no continue part. Maddening sometimes, but generally can be a fun read. It should be noted tho, that their headlines are at variance with the article. Get halfway through a story to find that out.  I guess it’s their way of making us read the article.
If there’s one thing I really do not like about the Mail, it’s their non stop harping and self congratulations telling us that only their campaign(s) and often quite politically correct btw, are responsible for saving the planet.
They do have some darn good ppl writing for them. Richard Littlejohn for one and Tom Utley for another. And Simon Heffer too.
Oh ... there’s something else they all seem to do when reporting a story. It’s always and no exceptions, the story leads with what the person is or was. Any veteran who’s injured or involved in a mugging say, is a “war hero” with no evidence of actually being so.Or else described as a father or grandfather. As in, “father is victim of” “mother slips on ice” Who the F cares?
Last year, a teacher with the urging of his young girlfriend age about 15 and a knockout, skipped off to France. ?? Maybe she was 16. Anyway, I’d agree he was nuts to do that but the Mail insists on describing it as an “abduction.” No way an abduction but that’s what they hammer. Speaking of hammer.
They’ve been hammering UKIP a lot and coming up with all sorts of derisive comments on the least little bit of whatever they can find, because they’re afraid that UKIP will split the vote in next election and thus give it to the labour left party.

  3. Without a doubt The Daily Mail has some significant peculiarities, but the quality of their reporting frequently impresses me.  The biggest problem is staying away from the latest wardrobe malfunction on the right side.

I just say these two articles today.  They’re not currently topical, yet excellent and interesting reporting.

I’d always known that a few Jews had survived NAZI Germany in the streets and alleys, but learning the actual stories has been rare.

The Woman Who Survived the Holocaust INSIDE Germany

    Then there’s this one.

Goering’s quote:  “Jesus was just another smart Jew.” left me with my mouth hanging open.  I’d always known that the NAZIs were only nominally Christian at best, with a strong interest in the occult, but that level of contempt takes it to a very different level.
